Pasaporte

Hoy, fui a solicitar mi pasaporte!

Today I went to apply for my passport. Hopefully that translation is accurate. The trip today became a little bit more real when I went with my dad to the Post Office to apply for my passport. This step will serve as my official notice that I am traveling to Costa Rica for the month of June.

The application has been patiently waiting several months for this moment. Part of the delay in applying was that the trip wasn't a sure deal and I really needed to find my birth certificate. It was brought to my attention last week that waiting this long might be cutting it a tad close for comfort. Lucky for me, I was able to locate three copies of my birth certificate in my house!

When talking to Dad about my trip he said that he would accompany me to get my passport. I tried to tell him that this might be his last official act as my dad as I am getting old. He said not quite yet. It was really a blessing to have him guide me in this because I was a little nervous. When we arrived they said that it was by appointment only with the next available appointment March 21st but God was watching out for this. The lady who was scheduled for an appointment didn't show up! We snuck right in there and were able to get my photo taken and my application turned in without any hiccups.

What I love about still having my Dad help - his attitude is infectious. I've always said about him, He has never met a stranger. He politely chatted up the Passport Lady to ease her out of the grumpy state she was in, the ladies at the front counter and the other people waiting in the passport line. His optimism is really quite admirable. He said the other day something along the lines of - What you worry about isn't quite as stressful as worrying about it. - When we really just take life in stride and trust in what God is doing for us, then stress isn't so prevalent in our lives. Then we have time to focus on the little things, like the beauty of stamps. Dad bought stamps that said "Celebrate!"

Here are a few pictures to mark the occasion.
Here is Dad and I about to head to the Post Office to apply for my passport.
Notice Dad's fish tie-dyed shirt. He loved it.

When the Passport Lady left the room, I snuck a picture of my application.
Of course I had to bleep out some of the information!
